Final Group Run This Saturday, October 4th 7am

This Saturday is the final Team Sadie 2008 training run and it will be a good one!

Ultra Marathoner, Jeff Arricale, will be running with us and speaking on his experiences in "super races" and in raising money for causes close to his heart. Jeff works in Baltimore with our very own Tina Robinson at T. Rowe Price. Thanks Tina for introducing Jeff to Team Sadie! To find out more about Jeff, click these ABC News links: http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=4714647 http://abcnews.go.com/Travel/Weather/story?id=4709544&page=1

Jeff will motivate and inspire us first. You will be so pumped up you won't even feel your legs at you run/walk once, twice or even three times around the lake! The lake is about a 2.5 mile loop.

Location and Time: 7 a.m. at Centennial Park in Columbia. Use Main Entrance off of RT. 108, once you turn into entrance go left to upper parking lot where bathrooms and new playground are located.

Distance: This course is around the lake, so whether you are running/walking the 5K, Relay, 1/2 or Full you can find a comfortable distance/pace for yourself!

Directions: From Route 29, take Route 108 west, towards Clarksville.
The main entrance to the park is about one mile on your right.

See you on Saturday at 7:00!

Baltimore City Run-Saturday, September 20th

It's three weeks and counting! And just the right time for our annual run around the Harbor.

When: This Saturday, September 20th
Where: Baltimore Inner Harbor
What time: 7:00am at Mt Hebron High School for carpooling or 7:30am at Fort McHenry

The whole route as you see, is approximately 8 miles, I think it is a little less, but the Running program does not show the sidewalks near the Harbor and some of the roads that wind around east of the Harbor. You can pick your turn around point anywhere on the map. This is a really fun run and has some parts of the run that are the same as the second leg of the relay in the marathon. Did I mention flat? No hills, or hardly any! So I look forward to seeing you all. Please e-mail me at photographybyll@mac.com if you have questions or on my cell phone, (410-961-0452) Saturday morning if you need help finding our meeting place. I would suggest that you run with a cell phone if you are able, and a little money incase you want to stop for water or coffee. Please let me know if you plan to join us, so we can be looking out for you. I will check up until Friday night at 11:00pm on e-mail to see if you are coming!

It's only three weeks away, come join the fun! and did I mention flat? See you soon!

Group Run-Saturday, July 26 at 7:00 am

Patapsco State Park- 'entrance' on River Road
Go through dowtown Ellicott City over bridge, past old mill on right. About 1/2 mile or so on right, past gas station, you will see River Road on your right (bears right at small unit of townhouses) at a billboard sign. If you start going up a hill and pass Dimitri's, you've gone too far!
Take River Road which winds through the woods for a few miles, until you reach an overpass. Park under the overpass. Entrance to the park will be on the left through a small trail, you will see a small swinging bridge. Carpooling is encouraged, as parking is limited. This shady paved trail is about 2.5 miles one way, so up and back is about 5 + (sorry I can't be more precise than that!)

Group Run 7/12

Group Run for 7/12/08 7 AM

We will meet in the parking lot of the intersection of Robert Fulton Drive and Columbia Gateway Drive, this is right down the road from the Home Depot off of Snowden River Parkway and RT 175 in Columbia.

http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/united-states/md/columbia/192133688

Columbia Gateway Drive is a 2 mile loop. This will allow you to choose the distance you would like to run in 2 mile increments, just trying to accommodate for everyone. The loop has a sidewalk that goes around the complete loop, so you do not have to run on the road if you do not want to.

Water and snacks will be available. For those of you running over 2 miles, I will try to set up a water table close to the running path so you can grab water and go.

Corporate Sponsorship

We were excited to have our first Corporate Sponsorship meeting a few weeks ago. We worked on tweaking runner level benefits, discussing proposed sponsor benefits, developed basic wish list for in-kind donations and discussed a plan for a brochure.

Our first stab at a wish list includes:

- food donations for before and after the marathon;
bagels,
bananas,
coffee,
apples,
water,
Gatorade/Powerade,
ice,
Power Bars,
etc.

- t-shirt sponsors

- porta-potty sponsor

- printing services

- cash donations from corporate sponsors!

Here's where you come in! If you have a contact for any of the items above, wish to solicit items on behalf of Team Sadie, think your business or one of the places you frequent would like to be a sponsor please let us know!

This is our first year for Corporate Sponsorship, we are looking for everyone's help to develop a list of people or business who might be interested in supporting Team Sadie. Please email (rives@comcast.net) or call us (410-869-8370) with your leads or contacts or let us know what you are able to solicit.

Thanks!!!

Group Run #2

Despite on and off again rain showers, Group Run 2 was attended by a small dedicated group. The weather was actually really nice during that 2-3 PM hour that people where at Centennial Park. The Group Run Committee has been actively emailing to try to plan out the next couple group runs so people will have ample notice of what is going on.

Marketing Update

The Marketing Team (Jill Snavely and I) met last week to discuss the first marketing flyer/brochure we hope to put together very soon. This will be an informative brochure geared towards runners, who are interested in being part of Team Sadie. The brochure will inform readers about Team Sadie, tell them how to get on board, and let them know about the web site, so that they can keep informed about events. Once the brochure is completed, we would like to have it available for distribution at upcoming races, runner events and local running stores.
